The 50 Peso Gold Coin, of all coins issued by the Mexican Mint, is arguably the most iconic. You may also hear this referred to as the Gold Centenario. Now a favorite among collectors, the coin was first issued in 1921.
Backed by the government of Mexico, and with a face value of 50 pesos, this coin contains 1.20565 troy ounce of actual gold content.
From the Mexican coat of arms, the reverse side of the coin features the Golden Eagle. Various depictions of the Mexican coat of arms are featured on different coins. Generally, a golden eagle battles with a snake while perched on a cactus.
An image of Winged Victory is represented on the obverse side of this coin (Emilio del Moral design).
