The Austrian Philharmonic gold coin, also known as the Vienna Philharmonic coin, has been produced by the Austrian Mint since 1989.
Measuring 22mm by 1.2mm, this coin contains 1/4 troy ounce of 99.99% pure gold - the highest purity gold in normal production in the world.
Since the Philharmonic gold coins began production before the introduction of the euro common currency, quarter-ounce coins minted between 1989 and 2001 will bear the face value of 500 schillings. Those struck from 2002 to the present have a denomination of 25 euros.
All Austrian Philharmonics feature the same design - the Grand Organ of the Vienna Philharmonic concert hall with the weight and denomination on the obverse, and various orchestral instruments on the reverse.
