1/2 oz Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin

This Gold Maple Leaf coin challenged the South African Krugerrand’s dominance. It was, in fact, the first bullion coin to do so. In nothing more than the 1 oz. variance, it was introduced in 1979. During the popular coin program’s expansions (actually the second round) the half ounce coin was introduced.

The ½ oz. Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin is made from a ½ Troy ounce of .9999 pure gold. A stunning image of the sugar maple leaf is depicted on the reverse side while a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is beautifully displayed on the obverse side of this coin.

This coin is backed by the Government of Canada and has a face value of $20 CAD.
