To be used as legal tender, the Gold Krugerrand was first conceptualized in 1967. Both to the South African culture and its heritage, this coin offers an exciting tribute.
The reverse side of this coin shows an image of the springbok antelope, South Africa's national animal. The gold’s weight and year of minting are also displayed on this side.
On the obverse side of this coin, you will find – in English and in Afrikaans – "South Africa", along with a likeness of its first and only president, Paul Kruger. His signature long beard and penetrating eyes have been rendered in careful detail to provide a portrayal most accurate.
Each coin is marked ½ Troy oz., its net gold weight, and its gold purity is 91.67%, or 22k.
