For modern day collectors and investors, one of the more amazing choices is a historic French gold coin with a design referred to as the "Marianne Rooster". For the first time, in 1899, this coin was struck by the Paris Mint. For only a relatively short period, however, they were in circulation.
Highlights of this coin include the following:
• Originally issued by the Francis government, it has a face value of 20 francs.
• Contains .1867 troy ounce of actual gold content.
• Struck somewhere between 1899 and 1914.
The unofficial symbol of France, the "Gallic Rooster", is featured on the reverse side of this coin. A symbol of reason and liberty, the image of Marianne is featured on this coin’s obverse side.
