While the reverse side of this more rustic looking gold bar is blank, the obverse side contains identifying marks with the mint logo in a smooth surface. Each bar has its own serial number.

To make these bars, to its absolute melting point, gold is heated and then poured into molds that are prefabricated. While still in the mold, the gold then air cools and hardens.
