Popular weights in the beloved yellow metal to which investors are most accustomed – when buying gold bars – include 1 kilo, 10 ounces, and 1 ounce. Purchasers of this gold bar, in 1 kilo, will be investing in no less than 32 Troy ounces of .9999 pure gold. Per ounce, you'll find that buying one of these 1 kilo bars is more affordable than purchasing 32 separate 1 oz. bars.
While the reverse side of this more rustic looking gold bar is blank, the obverse side contains identifying marks with the mint logo in a smooth surface. Each bar has its own serial number.
To make these bars, to its absolute melting point, gold is heated and then poured into molds that are prefabricated. While still in the mold, the gold then air cools and hardens. This helps to account for its more rustic, rough appearance and shape. Into the bar, during the cooling process, design elements are inscribed.
