The $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coin, since its release in 1850, has become, among investors and collectors alike, an absolute favorite. One reason for its extreme value is that it was the first United States mint produced $20 denomination coin. It is composed from 90.0% pure gold, thanks to its pre-1933 release. This coin is classified Mint State 63 (MS 63).
A heraldic eagle with striped breast shield shows up on the reverse side of this coin with its talons clutching a bundle of oranges and an olive branch. On the obverse side of this coin, designed by Chief Engraver James Barton Longacre, Lady Liberty wears her name-inscribed crown. This coin is sometimes referred to as the "The Coronet Double Eagle” or the "Liberty Head Double Eagle".
